Congratulations to Chloe Oleksiuk, who received summer research funding via a Scotia Scholar Award from Research Nova Scotia. Chloe will be working on a project to share the relationship between concussion history and dementia risk with athletes. Her project is co-supervised by Dr. Erin Mazerolle and Dr. Sebastian Harenberg (Human Kinetics, StFX).
The Mazerolle Lab was awarded a Canadian Foundation for Innovation grant to establish neurovascular imaging infrastructure at StFX! A functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system will be combined with respiratory gas delivery and measurement equipment. We'll use this new gear to study brain changes in conditions such as concussion and dementia. Read the story here.

April 28, 2022 - Erin and collaborators (Conor Barker and James Hughes) received a grant from the StFX Students' Union to develop and evaluate an OER for a course on cognitive neuroscience.
April 25, 2022 - Erin, Conor Barker, and Family Service in Mi'kma'ki were awarded MITACS funding to support an intern researching neuroscience knowledge translation strategies for addressing housing instability.
March 31, 2022 - The VAScular Cognitive Impairment Training (VAST) Platform was funded by CIHR! Erin is a member of the leadership team, along with Eric Smith (nominated principal applicant), AmanPreet Badhwar, Bojana Stefanovic, and Steffany Bennett. See the story here.
January 20, 2022- Erin, Conor Barker, and Family Service in Mi'kma'ki were awarded CLARI funding to support research on neuroscience knowledge translation strategies for addressing housing instability.

Lab members Kathryn Isenor, Haley Keenan, and Tristan Pye participated in the recent hackathon organized by CARET (Collaboration for Analytics Research, Education, and Technology) and Engage Nova Scotia. The team created the winning infographic on education and time use. Congratulations!
